Biddle’s heat recovery unit, reduces emissions and saves money. It improves air quality and reduces energy consumption using counterflow technology. Waste heat is extracted from warm, polluted air as it leaves the building and transferred to cool fresh air as it flows in. With an air-to-air heat exchanger recovery efficiency rates of up 90% can be achieved. As a result, it is not only highly energy efficient, but also very cost effective.
To maximise energy savings and minimise carbon emissions the unit can also be connected to reuse heat and CO2 from store refrigeration. Refrigeration accounts for up to 50% of a typical supermarket energy consumption, and instore heating and cooling is a further expense. For an average sized store that can add up to around €10,000 per annum and when multiplied across the entire estate, that cost runs into millions.
